| I have been selling properties for 16 years, but before that I had a long history in home building and renovation— mostly in Northeast Connecticut, dating back to the 70’s when I came to the area to attend UConn. Like many people involved in Real Estate, the lure to buy other properties is too great to resist, and I now own a number of rental properties in the Windham area. Partly as a result of the housing stock available for investment, I own or have owned many older homes, mostly Victorians and old Mill houses. My wife and I can truthfully say that we’ve never owned a house newer than 1900! We met in 1983 at the old poor house on Maple Road in Mansfield when I was renting her an apartment there. Since then, we have spent many happy hours working on various older homes. We presently live in an older farmhouse (circa 1865) in Mansfield and have now been there for 15 years. I’ ve seen the good (and bad!) of older homes but always feel connected to them and their unique history, and I really enjoy marketing the uniqueness of every antique house I list for sale. I doubt the next house we buy will be the stuff we built in the 80’s but we often think of moving up to the 20’s. Stacey and I have two boys and we are active with the Willimantic Food Coop, Boy scouts, Joshuas Trust and running with my dog on local trails. — Jack Fulton |
